Sustainability is central to how we deliver events at the House of Commons. We aim to create experiences that are both exceptional and responsible, making conscious choices that reduce our environmental impact and support the communities around us. From the ingredients we source to how we manage waste, our focus is on practical steps that matter.
Our approach
We believe sustainability starts with good planning. Our catering teams work with trusted suppliers to create menus that celebrate British seasonal produce, supporting local farmers and reducing transport impact. Careful menu design and portioning mean we minimise food waste, with any surplus directed towards community initiatives where possible.
We have removed single-use plastics such as straws, cutlery, and stirrers, replacing them with compostable or recyclable alternatives. Wherever possible, we use digital tools—such as e-invitations, signage, and event materials—to reduce printed waste and keep our operations efficient.
