Parliament's Archive Collections
The Parliamentary Archives is now closed, and its collections have been relocated to The National Archives in Kew. This arrangement ensures Parliament’s records benefit from world‑class preservation facilities, digital expertise, and excellent public access, while Parliament continues to oversee how its records are used and released.
Access to the Collections
Parliament’s archive collections were made available at The National Archives in phases, beginning in December 2025 and are expected to be made fully available in June 2026. Members of the public can access open, historic Parliamentary records through The National Archives website.
Public engagement, exhibitions, and outreach
Parliament and The National Archives work together to share Parliament’s archival heritage with wider audiences. This includes collaboration on:
- Exhibitions and public displays
- Engagement and learning activities
- Partnerships with external organisations
This joint approach helps bring Parliament’s history to life for the public in new and engaging ways. Discover ‘What’s On’ at The National Archives.
Visiting The National Archives
The National Archives is open to everyone. Whether you are doing research, attending an exhibition or event or exploring family history, you can visit for free.
Digital access to historic records
Many parliamentary records - particularly those from 1997 onwards - are available online. You may therefore be able to access published documents such as Acts of Parliament, Bills, Command Papers, Deposited Papers, and Hansard via the Parliament website or other online sources.
