ICGS processes

This section provides guidance on some key steps in the ICGS processes for anyone who needs extra information.

If you have questions about how the ICGS works, you can contact the ICGS team (email: icgs@parliament.uk).

You can also view an overview of the process for those making a complaint, and an overview of the process for those who have had a complaint made against them.

In this section

Informal resolution

Informal resolution is a way of sorting out a complaint without going through a full investigation. It can help both people involved understand what happened and find a way to work well together in the future.

Eligibility assessments

Every complaint to the ICGS is checked to see if it meets the eligibility criteria.

Factual accuracy checks

When the investigator finishes their investigation, they will write a Full Assessment report. Before that report is finalised, both the complainant and respondent can read it and check it for accuracy. This is called the Factual Accuracy Check.

Confidentiality

Confidentiality means keeping information private. It is very important in all ICGS cases.
