Select committees are cross-party groups of 11 to 16 MPs. Most are appointed by the House to examine government policy, administration, and spending. They hold hearings and produce reports, which are usually agreed on a cross-party basis.

Most Select Committees examine the work of a government department, like the Treasury or Home Affairs Committees; a few follow a subject across all of government, like the Environment Audit or Public Accounts Committees.

What we do

We make Select Committees happen. We arrange committee meetings and visits; produce and circulate papers; research policy; write briefings and draft reports; produce and publish documents, media and online content; help committees engage with the public and advise Chairs and Members on parliamentary rules.

As well as teams supporting individual committees, we also have specialist teams who work with committee staff and MPs to provide impartial advice on policy, legal and financial scrutiny, media, digital communications, and public engagement.

Our work is varied, fast-paced and often high-profile. Select committee reports regularly lead the news and can change government policy.

Some of the roles we recruit for are:

  • Committee Specialist
  • Video Producer
  • Print Production Assistant
  • Committee Operations Officer
